Yeah, yeah, yeah
We have a new digging volunteer at the allotment, which is perfect. He's a big strong bloke who has his share of shite going on and loves to go up there on his own, light a fire, smoke a spliff, put on his head phones and dig up bramble roots for hours and hours. He has been sent by the divine universe to help us bring this thing in.
Today me and SDig went up there, all down-hearted and overwhelmed by the sheer drudgery of existence and found a big space between us and our neighbours all cleared and ready to rock. So we planted out the raspberry canes, autumn fruiting, proper tasty varieties, not like the high-yield pap available in shops.
And it felt GOOD. We reclaimed our polytunnel, after the passing through of the invading hordes. It was lashing down with icy rain, but we didn't care because we could sit inside and drink tea and browse our RHS Guide for Allotments (the ultimate source of disinterested information) and all was well.
This was something to hold onto when the interior dialogue started to get snitty about lack of achievement. Well, we planted the raspberries, so fuck off, Friday.
Photo-a-day is still being aggravating: 'About you'. Just fuck off getting existential on my arse and give me something neutral, something that can be made personal for those that are enjoying using the project in this way, but that doesn't traumatise or trigger shit in those of us trying to be distracted from who we are. I haven't been keeping up with the paper gratitude list so I'm reinstating it here.
Tonight I am grateful for: my friend SDig, dearly beloved; having access to a FUNDED allotment with our very own tunnel in which to shelter from the storm; the laundrette down the road and the service washes available there and the clean bedding ensuing from these facilities; a roof over my head; a blog to moan in
