Run
Today I managed to actually buy some trainers - two pairs no less, and went running when I got home, in the dark. It's fair to say I don't know who I am any more. This was run 1 of the couch to 5k thing, which you get on an app in your phone, from the NHS so trustworthy. She witters on in your ear while music plays, telling you what to do and when. Walk briskly for five minutes to warm up. Run for 60 seconds. Walk briskly for 90 seconds. Repeat the last two eight fucking times, then walk briskly for five minutes to cool down. It took me four times round the outside of the recreation ground by my house, on the pavement because it rained all day and I didn't know how slippery wet grass would be and didn't want to fall on my arse on my first attempt. It was hard but not so hard that I couldn't do it because a minute isn't very long. I'm meant to do the whole thing twice more over the next week then move on to the week two podcast. My legs hurt a bit and the plantar fascitis is more noticeable than when just walking, but I think this is a similar soothing to self harm. I need something physically demanding to keep my head from exploding.

I am grateful for: Bloke coughing up for the trainers; walking in the rain without wet feet without having to wear wellies; having enough pancake mix left over from yesterday for one for tonight - blackcurrant jam and creme fraiche; feeling very tired at bedtime; catching sight of that couple walking into the sunset with their shopping
