In other news though, fucking hell. My therapist said one of the things we're trying to do is shrink my stepmother in my - wherever it is she's still looming large - and try to expand my birth mother. To this end I posted a photo of my birth mother in Brighton Past, where she worked, and in the page fo the town where she was born, asking if anyone knows anything. Well, several people dived straight into records and now I have a date of birth for her, but also two blokes from her birthplace - one who lived next door to my granny and remembers me visiting, another whose mother was my granny's best friend, and knew loads - says I went on holiday with him, his sister and his parents when I was about five, and he now lives on the coast road here, about two miles from me! They both have older sisters who may have more memories - neither remember my mother herself, just that she'd existed and had died. Quite overwhelming. Tomorrow my US writing pal is visiting.
