annanotbob2's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes This afternoon I visited my friend B, a Californian who's lived here so long she's basically a Brit, who I met at the recovery centre. She recently left her husband and has managed to buy a flat with a shared ownership set-up, aided by a gift from another mutual friend who had come into more money than he felt comfortable with. Meanwhile her son, who had had a bad time during the lockdown and become a school refuser, was helped by the college's brilliant pastoral team and is now well on his way with an apprenticeship into a skill that has always been his only enthusiasm. This was bloody marvellous, to see my friend at peace, in a home of her own, not tormented with worry about her son, who had been trying to squeeze into the academic life both his parents follow when it's just not for him. Neither of them are remotely disappointed in him, they're relieved he's found his path. So that was cool and has perked me up quite a bit. 12:48 a.m. - 15.05.22 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
