annanotbob2's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Be gone Late writing tonight after a different kind of day, sleeping long hours, walking on the wet sand at low tide with my friend SB, eating a delicious, if small, lunch outside a new restaurant opened by a winner of Masterchef. Yoga, dinner, dozing on the sofa, checking in every few hours to see if Johnson has bitten the dust. He hasn't, at time of posting, but he's laying low on the grounds that 'a close relative' has tested positive. This is the man who can't answer a simple question about how many children he has (apparently at least seven). So who knows who this convenient 'close relative' is, turned up at the best moment though, didn't they? This apparently has the power to prevent him answering the phone, let alone doing zoom meetings, which is good for those of us who cannot bear the sight or sound of him for even a few seconds, but bad given that he's the fucking Prime Minister, suddenly going above and beyond the required response to Covid just to avoid the fury he's brought on himself. Meanwhile, the Telegraph has uncovered that there were two separate parties at 10 Downing Street on the evening before Prince Philip's funeral, when the Queen was alone, without her family, then sat alone as she buried her husband of sixty years (or whatever it was). As you may know, I'm not a royalist, I'm a republican (in the British sense of the world), but as a human being I am outraged at these fuckers expecting others to obey rules at such great personal cost when they're ignoring them. Seeing the Queen sat huddled up alone in Westminster Abbey, all dressed in black with a mask was heart-breaking. I know there were hundreds of others in the same situation and I'm so fucked off about it. He'd better be gone soon.
