We should be getting our heads round the fact that it WILL be necessary, because there is an excellent place half an hour away, for younger people, with all sorts of facilities and art and stuff like that, but people are always in denial about the inevitability of the need for care (in cercs like ED's) and leave it till they're forced to acknowledge it and the MSer ends up shoved into the only vacancy, which is usually and old people's home. She could go home at weekends, I'd be able to take her out and all that still and yes, I know it sounds better than sitting alone in her own home, but it's just fucking heart-breaking. They're not saying it'll become necessary this year, and maybe not even next year, but... SIL and I cried and hugged each other and cried some more. ED thought it sounded like a good idea when SIL talked about it with her, but forgot about it immediately. Nothing has been said to Grandson, though the MS nurse pointed out that GS's father would have rights and so would GS himself, to choose where he wanted to live. It's just all fucking shit. I want to get this van NOW, so we can get some serious grooving about in while we can. Tomorrow we are going unplugged, as it were, on foot and in chair, out and about in the lane round the village, as she hasn't spent more than moments outdoors since I last stayed here. If it's raining we'll just get wet. In the afternoon she goes to the MS centre for physio and I'll shoot off and look at this place, this residential fucking care home, and in the evening we'll go to the WI.
