So
Actually, I couldn't cope with the mixed messages about my Sam, with all this stuff about end of life care, going on and on and on for three months rather than the days or maybe a week or two we were expecting. So I asked the manager of the care home to see if she could get a referral back to the urologist. ( To people in the US - this is a downside of the national health service - it can be tricky to get to see specialists - someone has to believe you need it.) (But it is free.) We managed to get a cancellation at the GP's this afternoon, which was a bit scary, right in at the deep end, with my girl there, talking about all this 'end of life' stuff. The GP was great, though. She listened carefully, skimmed through all the letters and notes on Sam's file and declared it a remarkable sequence of events and Sam to be a remarkable woman. She's fought off septicaemia twice, apart from anything else, in the last year and has come back from the very brink of death twice. So yes, of course she will refer us on for a reassessment and hopefully another CT scan.
That all finished me off. I was almost drunk with the emotional tension and release. Beach, swim, litterpick, home sofa.
There had also been sewing at the recovery centre this morning where I took a pattern from my garment without a name, that's all in one, looks like a dress but is actually trousers. Turns out it's this shape, four times
So comfortable and looks easy to make so long as I don't get carried away. I have some beautiful African fabric and might have a go. Eek.
I am grateful for: the NHS; the recovery centre; the sea; meeting two mad little girls on the beach who showed me their 'fossils' while their dad was involved in an urgent telephone call - they turned out to just be stones, but it was nice chatting to little girls; bed, my lovely bed, where I'm going right now
